Team of amateurs from Upper Franconia starts for the Bayerischen Staatsforsten



Back in the days, the mountain bike team Langenbach lined up on the so far royal stage from Oberhof to Bad Steben supporting all riders of the 2007 to 2009 editions with big ups and loud cheering. Due to this effort, the club, which is focusing on a mountain bike sport exercised without negatively affecting the nature, pushed the participants to their limits.

After a leading member of the Bayerischen Staatsforsten was appointed CEO of the club, which kept in close touch with the region’s responsible forestry for a long time, it got obvious pretty soon that the sponsor of the best climber classification and thus the “Green jersey of the Bayerischen Staatsforsten powered by fi´zi:k” would form an own team for Germany’s big mountain bike stage race.

Four amateurs with some nice results to their belts

The team consists of four hobby bikers who have achieved some success so far. Stefan Böhm crowned himself Bavarian Cross Country Champion in 2001 and also triumphed in several regional contests. So did Thomas Diezel who gained some Trans Germany experience in last year’s race.

Although all four mates don’t aim for the big point they trained hard on the feared saw-blade-profile of the Franconian Forest, recently facing temperatures ranging from only 5 to 8 degrees. However, their main goal is to achieve a spot in the midfield and to represent the Bayerischen Staatsforsten in an appropriate way.

Home town support

To do so, they all got supported by the thermal bath of Bad Steben as well as the Franconian Forest tourism office which thus wishes for some new dynamics and impulses for the mountain bike sport in the cycling region Franconian Forest.
