Top riders start for the Tyrolean Zugspitz Arena

The reason for this optimistic call is simple. “Eight will start, the best four will count for the team classifier,” explains Mott who is glad of having some border crossing support aboard. Christian Pösl, the Bavarian Champion who also has some Bundesliga experience to his belt, will lead the team. “He for sure can win the race,” underlines Mott.

Experienced woman rounds out team

Besides Pösl, six marathon-approved men, who all have pedalled some race kilometres already, too, join Team Zugspitz Arena. Due to this, Roman Posch and Kurt Schuster from Lermoos, Hannes Seeber from Biberwier, Forchach resident Frank Kerber as well as Reutte’s Charly Poberschnigg and Andreas Pircher will line up in Garmisch-Partenkirchen.

Verena Krenlehner is the only women in the team; a pretty strong one indeed. She is not only a current team member of the Austrian National Team but also has gained some World Championships experience.

Training in the region

The team however had some good training sessions in the region. According to this, the local heroes might not only have benefitted from the perfect conditions in the Tyrolean Zugspitz Arena but also were able to better their home field advantage.

This advantage will maybe bring some decisive minutes in the end of the first stage when the eight mountain bikers will roll over the finish line in Lermoos with all other 1,200 participants – supported by their home town fans.
