Bregenz, the city of culture and pleasure presents itself also as destination for sports: The new destination for CRAFTBIKE TransGermany between the Lake of Constance and the Pfänder mountain has a lot to offer for cycling sportsmen. No matter if mountain biking, trekking or racing: Cycling at the Lake of Constance means freedom on two wheels, it is pleasure for body, mind and sole and offers additionally spectacular views on the fascinating natural heritage of this region.

Mountain & Lake

Form the geographic point of view, Bregenz was predestinated as starting and arrival point, due to its unique location at the 4-country-corner. Moreover the tremendous options between challenging tours through fields and meadows, the combination of fast and flat paths to steep mountain routs, as well as jovial routs alongside the lake and the Bregenzerach, make the city at the lake very popular. Who wishes to cut short on the length of activity, can do so by using the train, ship or cablecar instead of cycling along the signed paths of the area.

However Bregenz is famous for the biggest floating stage of the world, the Bregenzer festival, the ZDFarena during the European Soccer Championship (EM) 2008 and of course because of James Bond. The latter because of the impressive stage that was built for the performance of the opera-thriller „Tosca“, a big stunning blue eye, which was used as film location for a scene in the movie 007 „A Quantum of Solace“. Even the producer Barbara Broccoli answered the question of why Bregenz was chosen as location for the movie as follows:

„James-Bond-movies follow the tradition to show the most interesting and beautiful places of the world to their audience.“

Another highlight: 80 years old, modern and driving passengers in six minutes to a remarkable height of 1.022 meter to another world – the Pfänder cablecar. A phenomenal view can be enjoyed on a clear day while the car takes one up the hill: One is gliding over the roofs of the exceptional houses of Bregenz, has the lake situated to ones feet and has a breath taking 360° view at the top of the mountain towards around 240 with snow covered mountain tops. From the Allgaeu alps in Germany to the mountain tops of Austria and Lichtenstein until Switzerland. This spot invites everyone to take a deep breath and relax while enjoying a wonderful panorama of the region.

Moreover concerning the same week-end the famous Bregenzer New Orleans Festival takes place simultaneously to the CRAFTBIKE TransGermany. Flair of the southern states spreads its way through the city, when the Kornmarktstraße transforms into the „Little Bourbon Street“ for three days. Special about this festival is that international professionals perform together with excellent local musicians which creates a spirit that’s one of a kind. Concluded is this highlight of the year by the traditional Gospel-Brunch on Sunday in the Musikpavillon.
